The California State Old-Time Fiddlers Association is dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of old-time fiddling.

Fiddling is Fun!

District 3's goal is to keep Old-Time Fiddling alive in our community.  Our members range from the very young to the wisest among us.  We strive to hook children into fiddling early so that it becomes part of their lifestyle.  Our District includes the Counties of Kern, Inyo, and San Luis Obispo as well as parts of Monterey and San Bernardino Counties.

Fiddle Contests

Mark your calendars this year for both the Amateur Contest and the Annual "Fiddlin' Down the Tracks" Contest.  The Amateur Contest is normally the 2nd weekend each March and is held at Tehachapi Valley United Methodist Church.  The Annual "Fiddlin' Down the Tracks" Contest is the 3rd weekend every September and is two days, Friday and Saturday.  We have moved that contest to Country Oaks Baptist Church in Tehachapi.  Please click on the Fiddle Contest tab on the left side of this page for Contest categories, schedule, and Official Rules.

Contra Dances

Put on your dancing shoes and bring your family and friends to our next Contra Dance.  A lively fiddle band will provide the tunes and a caller to keep people moving!  Refreshments and snacks will be provided.  See our Events page for the latest schedule.

The California State Old-Time Fiddlers' Association, abbreviated CSOTFA, is a California non-profit corporation and is an IRS 501 (c)(3) charitable organization formed to educate about and perpetuate fiddling as an art form and cultural treasure. Donations to this organization are deductible for Income Tax purposes and are greatly appreciated.
